Portland Craft — 2012–2026

We opened Portland Craft in 2012, before the boom. Before breweries were on every corner. Before craft beer meant what it does today.

At the time, the Canadian dollar was at par with the U.S., and some of the most exciting beer in the world was coming out of places like Portland. Access wasn’t easy, and that was the point — we wanted to bring something here that didn’t exist yet.

So we did.

A room built around American craft beer. New styles, new ideas, and a different perspective on what beer — and a beer bar — could be.

The iPhone 5 had just come out. Instagram was just getting going. No one was chasing algorithms. If people showed up, it was because they heard about you, trusted you, or took a chance.

And people showed up.

Over the years, Vancouver changed. The beer scene exploded. What was once hard to find became local, and what felt niche became the standard. We watched this city grow into one of the best beer cities anywhere — and we’re proud to have been part of that.

But more than anything — this place was built by people.

To every staff member who gave their time, energy, and personality to Portland Craft — thank you. You created the atmosphere, the service, the moments, and the memories. You are the reason this place mattered. We’re incredibly proud of the team that stood behind this bar and on this floor over the years.

Today, we closed our doors.

Not out of failure — but out of evolution.

These things aren’t meant to last forever. They’re meant to matter while they’re here. And Portland Craft mattered — to us, and hopefully to you.

To everyone who came through, raised a glass, worked a shift, or shared a moment — thank you.

This isn’t the end.
